In a more detailed way, presents emotion as primal function based on neuroscientific and neuropsychological research, as well as giving theoretical background. Theoretical background includes James-Lange theory and Damasio’s Somatic Marker Hypothesis. The various levels of emotion are defined and specific research constructs, such as emotion contagion and emotion regulation, are presented as having important implications for education and parenting. Researched methods of emotion regulation are explained. Information from research on how to recognize and regulate one’s own emotions are presented and discussed.
